These six finalists in the Miss Gulf Coast Pageant are shown anxiously awaiting the judges decision on who will be crowned the winner. Annette Kent of Kenedy (far left) not only was chosen the new Miss Gulf Coast, but she also won the red talent division and a scholastic award. The other five finalists are, from left, Debbie Henderson of El Campo, who also won the blue evening gown cometition; Mary Beth Cooke of Bloomington, who was also chosen Miss Congeniality; Rhonda Keaton of Kingsville; Gina Gwosdz of Orange Grove; and Teresa Wright of Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, who won the blue sportswear competition too. Teresa and Rhonda tied for first place in the blue talent division. Cindy Henesly of Pettus won both the red sportswear and evening gown competitions. Also making it as top finalists were Barbie Davis and Roxanne McCameron, both of Beevile. Winning "Most Cooperative" (selected by the pageant committee) was Nancy Hermes of Edna. Judy Reilly of Refugio was selected "Just Because You're You," an award which goes to a non-finalist. Forty area young ladies participated in the contest, which was held Friday and Saturday.
