Acadian EMS was dispatched but requested Halo Flight after arriving at the scene. Officers reported that the man had blood on his leg and a gunshot wound to his chest. A rifle was discovered in the vehicle, a 2004 red Ford. It was unclear at the time whether the wound was self-inflicted, an accident or if another person was involved.
The victim was transported by helicopter to a Corpus Christi hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
Live Oak County deputies were on the scene as well as a Texas Highway Patrol officer. Three Rivers Fire Department and EMS were also dispatched.
