St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, the Women of Faith Lutheran, First United Methodist and First Presbyterian Church of Beeville are co-sponsoring the Lenten Luncheon series which will be held at St. Philip’s.

The series consists of four lectures, one each Tuesday, from March 10 through 31. Lunch will be served from 11:30 to noon, followed by the program beginning by 12:05 p.m. and concluding by 1 p.m.

Those interested in attending should make reservations by Friday afternoon, with the exception of season reservation holders. Tickets are $7 for each luncheon. Call the church office for reservations, 358-2730.

On March 17, Stan Simonson will speak on St. Mary’s Charter School, “Making a Difference in Teaching.”

Simonson says that he picked Texas to be his home. After moving with a Navy family all over the United States, he settled in South Texas.

He graduated from high school in Brunswick, Maine, and from college in Norfolk, Va. He also has a master’s degree in school administration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Throughout his career, he has been a teacher, school counselor and principal. He stated that his best years in education were the six years as principal of St. Joseph’s and the eight years of principal of St. Mary’s Academy Charter School.

Tom Dolezal will be the speaker at the March 24 session. He will present “A Walk to Siloam” (homeless ministry).

On March 31, Gloria Delaplain will speak on Christian Palestinians.

This series is an ecumenical outreach, not a fundraiser, and was founded in 1970. The public is invited to attend.
