Cunningham spoke on the free enterprise system and how it relates to our economy and system of government. Speeches were judged on organization, language, voice, use of notes, eye contact, and overall persuasiveness.
As the winner, Cunningham received a $1,000 scholarship and will compete in the Texas Farm Bureau State Contest to be held in Waco on Dec. 1.
District 12 consists of Goliad, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Gonzales, Lavaca, Wilson, Karnes, DeWitt, Jackson, Victoria, Bee, Refugio, Calhoun, and Aransas counties.
Winners at the state level will receive additional scholarship monies and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.
