Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) through the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) program awarded $60, 956.40 to cities in South Texas. Additionally, these cities received a total of 209 bulletproof vests. The BVP’s main goal is to provide resources for state and local law enforcement in their fight against crime.
The City of George West was awarded $1,460.07 and three vests.
“Local and state law enforcement officers risk their lives every day and every night in the line of duty,” said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa.
“I thank the U.S. Department of Justice for providing our officers with critical resources to protect their lives while they serve to protect our communities from crime.”
