PALACIOS – The Goliad Middle School girls cross country team captured the district title on Saturday.

The meet was held at the Texas State Marine Education Center. Top 10 finishers received medals.

Other teams in the district were Palacios, Tidehaven, Industrial, Bloomington, Refugio, Aransas Pass and Edna.

Goliad’s Andrea DeLaGarza won the meet in 13:21 and teammate Roxanne Morris was second in 14:10. Also leading Goliad was Michala Janssen (fourth, 15:10), Holly Gaskamp (fifth, 15:28), Emily Klinkerma (10th, 16:31), Casey Tislow (12th), Bryanna Mendoza (23rd), Sarah Helmer (28th), Lindsey Jacob (29th), and Emily Duprie (30th).

DeLaGarza won every meet she competed in this season.

Industrial was second, Bloomington third, and Tidehaven fourth.

The middle school boys were led by Rhett Davis (second, 13:33), Tino Reyes (sixth, 14:05) and Garrett Coles (10th, 14:36).

Palacios won the district title and Industrial was second.

“I’m proud of all the kids and thanks to them and their parents for all the support throughout the season,” coach Ed Ousley said. “The kids worked so hard this season. The high school teams will run in Palacios on Wednesday this week for the chance to qualify to the regional meet in San Antonio on Nov. 3.”
