The Lady Trojans got a sixth place finish from Kennedy Treviño (20:54) to medal and also qualify for the Region IV meet in San Antonio at the National Shooting Complex on Roft Road on Saturday morning.
Overall, the boys’ varsity team was sixth with the Wildcats from Gregory-Portland capturing the team title. Tuloso-Midway ran to a second place finish and the Calhoun Sandcrabs were third.
Tanner Treviño was pacing the front runners, running third or so with about a mile left in the race. He then picked up the pace and outran all of his closest competitors with a blazing finish, beating the second place finisher by several seconds.
Trojan Marquez Bowman placed 19th in the event with a time of 18:39. Jordan Saldivar was 32nd in 20:18, while Bryce Koenig was close behind in 34th in 20:27. Jared Landreth placed 44th in 22:55 for the Beeville boys.
The Lady Trojans’ Angel Frias placed 16th overall with a time of 22:03 for the three-mile event. Tiffany Vargas ran a 23:13 for a 24th place spot overall. Mari Varra was 33rd in 25:59, and Eddika Ortega placed 35th in 36:11.
The Lady Trojans placed fifth as a team. The top three teams in the District 30-4A meet were again G-P, T-M and Calhoun.
The JV Lady Trojans placed second overall in their two-mile event. MacKenzie Harvey led the way with a fourth place finish to medal in 14:39. Audrey Carranco placed eighth in 15:04 to also medal for the JV girls. Julissa Ortiz was 12th overall in 15:26. Janie Cano placed 24th in 16:22, and Clarissa Aquero was 28th in 16:57. Alexis Treviño placed 31st for the JV girls with a time of 17:20. Alexis Gonzales was in 35th in 17:47.
Trojan Mark Valdez completed the JV boys three-mile course in 23:34 for a 28th place spot, and teammate Brent Koenig was 34th with a time of 24:31.
“We ended the season on a great note. Most of my runners broke their personal best times at the district meet this year,” said head coach Gracy Bryce. “We’re a young team and should be stronger and better next year.”
