Police chiefs, supervisors and state investigators met on Oct. 17 at The Lodge at Shorty’s Place for a second meeting since Beeville Police Department Chief Joe Treviño created a Police Chief’s Area Alliance. Those on hand for the meeting included, from left, Chief Eugene DeLeon of Sinton, Lt. J.R. Rodriguez of Three Rivers, Chief Vance Roberts of Three Rivers, BPD Detectives Matthew Miller and Tony Gutierrez, Derry Minor of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, Agent Robert Pickett of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Chief Eddie Salas of Karnes City, TABC Agent Byron Smith, BPD Assistant Police Chief Kenneth Jefferson, BPD Detective Art Gamez and BPD Detective Lt. Richard Cantu. Treviño said the alliance will allow local law enforcement officers to exchange intelligence on gangs and sex offenders and share opportunities for training as well as maintaining professional contacts. The alliance will meet six times a year.
