That’s how many cast their ballots during the two-week early voting period, which ended Friday.
According to the Goliad County Clerk’s Office, 2,072 residents voted early. There are 5,516 registered voters in the county.
The contentious presidential election is credited with the high voter turnout.
Three local positions are in play Tuesday as polls across Goliad County open at 7 a.m.
Goliad County Sheriff Kirby Brumby is seeking re-election on the Republican ticket. He is being contested by Democrat Paul San Miguel.
Democrat June Bethke and Republican Michelle Garcia are contending for the Goliad County tax assessor/collector position being vacated by Anna Lopez.
The Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace position is being contested between Democrat Jacqueline Peuttus and Republican Susan Moore.
