Rosendo Garcia Sr., 90, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, in a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 30, 1919, in the Clareville community to Jose and Hilaria (De La Rosa) Garcia. He was a retired oil field worker.

Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Alfredo “Freddy” Garcia.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie G. Garcia of Beeville, one daughter, Aurora “Cata” Longoria of Beeville; two sons, Roseno (Ina) Garcia Jr. of Beeville and Daniel “Danny” (Anna) Garcia of Victoria; two sisters, Elvira Benavidez and Adela Valdez, both of Beeville; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Church.

Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2. Pallbearers will be Louis “Tiny” Longoria Jr., Lupe Valdez Jr., Roberto Benavidez, Danny Ray Garcia, Paco Del Rosario and Andrew Martinez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Elizando Gonzales, Ruben Garcia, Connor Moreno, Tanner Moreno, Mathew Soliz and Charles Salinas.
