It’s time! This past weekend we turned back our clocks and welcome the most wonderful season of the year. The hunting and holiday season. Halloween was great. The chamber had 40 costumed kids from Head Start join us Halloween morning and then we were off to Alexander Auto to trick or treat in the safety of their circle of new trucks. And what about The Word Fellowship Church. What a celebration! If you didn’t go, you missed being blessed. Hunting season can mean just about anything. For many it is hunting for just the right way to say thank you or I love you to that special someone. For others it’s time to get out and site the guns and clean out the freezer for fresh meat. Either way, you need to shop! Shopping for ammo, ice chests or bling and other things in a new community can be tough for our new Eagle Ford Shale residents. As things change rapidly here in Kenedy, this just might be the right time for you to become an even bigger part of it! Every thought of opening your own business or selling some of those items you enjoy making on the weekend as a hobby? Being at the chamber office is like working for the phone company information services. Every phone call is either someone from out of town looking to move or visit, or a new resident looking for a good plumber, electrician, car repair dealer, gunsmith, book store, hunting lease or one of a million things we need or want every day. The important thing is to buy locally! How do you know where to find what you need? As a new resident and chamber member myself, I encourage everyone to join the chamber! Chamber members will be here tomorrow. Chamber members care about their community. Chamber members support each other. Chamber membership says a lot about your company, and if you’re not a member, I can’t recommend you! Right now the chamber is busy getting ready for our annual Radio Auction and Christmas with Santa in the Park. Want to promote your business? Consider making a donation to the auction! It doesn’t need to be something crazy big. Our annual auction is a great time to make people aware of all the products and services we have here in Kenedy. Shopping locally is important to all our businesses, old and new.

One of our new businesses in town is A Dependable Drug Testing. Join us at their Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. Their office is located at 491 N. Sunset Strip Ste. 125. Please take a moment at the end of your day to come and welcome John, Craig and the gang to our area.

Election Day, I hope everyone took the opportunity to vote and to pray for our country, our people and our leadership. Just like the chamber, our country needs your participation. Until we meet, live life fully and be blessed. Brenda Hansler.
