He attended class at Meridian, Miss., from Oct. 22 to Nov. 7, and will be stationed in Misawa, Japan, where he will be working as a personnel specialist.
The sailor is the son of Santiago Solis Jr. and Rosa Z. Solis of Beeville and the grandson of Cristina Zarate of Encinal, Maria Elva Solis of Beeville and the late Santiago R. Solis.
He is a 2009 graduate of A.C. Jones High School.
