Update: The phones were restored to the courthouse about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Contractors installing new storm water drainage lines on North St. Mary’s Street accidentally cut through a telephone cable on Tuesday morning and shut off telephone service to the Bee County Courthouse.

“We lost telephone service and we don’t know how long we’ll be without it,” said Bee County Judge David Silva. “So if anyone needs to call the courthouse, they need to be aware that we do not have phone service at this time and we may not have it anytime in the immediate future.”
