RV explodes south of Kenedy injuring man
Emergency workers responded to a report of an RV explosion at an RV park on County Road 148 about 5 miles south of Kenedy. A man was reportedly injured in the explosion with burns over 60 percent of his body. He was airlifted by helicopter from the scene of the accident. The explosion was reported Sunday evening, Nov. 25, about 5:30 p.m.
Police, firefighters and EMS were called to the scene at the RV park on County Road 148 which is about five miles south of Kenedy.
According to reports on the emergency radio frequency, a man was reportedly injured in the explosion with burns over 60 percent of his body.
He was airlifted by helicopter from the scene of the accident.
According to the owners of the RV park, an extremely loud “boom” was heard at about 5:30 p.m. and one of the RVs in the park was fully engulfed in flames.
Karnes County EMS workers treated the man near the scene of the explosion and prepared him for emergency airlift to a San Antonio are hospital.
The Karnes Countywide reached out to Sheriff David Jalufka for details about the explosion, but a phone message left Monday was not immediately returned.
