GONZALES – The Lady Trojan varsity basketball team ran their record on the season to 15-3 with a non-district, 59-52 road win over the Gonzales Apaches on Tuesday night, but it wasn’t easy.

The Beeville girls led by four, 14-10, after one quarter and then stretched that lead to eight, 27-19, by the halftime break.

The Apaches rallied in the third period to pull even with the Lady Trojans and it was a 41-41 contest. The Lady Trojans got back after it on defense and that spurred the offense to record 18 fourth quarter points to pull away for the seven-point victory.

Sophomore forward Ciara Garcia led the Beeville girls in scoring with 16 points. Theresa Amador hit for 15 on the night. Victoria Elizalde and Brennan Holder each contributed eight points. Tori Munoz, Paige McKinney and Audrey Carranco added four points apiece.

The Lady Trojans got back to their district battles last night when the Victoria East Lady Titans paid a visit to Beeville. Both teams were undefeated in District 30-4A play so far this year.

The Lady Trojans will then enjoy a brief holiday break before heading to West Oso on Dec. 27 to compete in the Pride of Texas tournament that runs through Dec. 29.
