Bexar County Commissioner Kevin Wolff was elected to serve as vice chair. They begin their tenure on Jan. 1. They were sworn into office by the 2012 Board Chair Katie N. Reed, Northside I.S.D. board trustee.
During the luncheon that followed, both newly elected officers spoke briefly about their upcoming tenure. Mayor Tymrak said, “AACOG is positioned well as a strong leader in identifying and effecting solutions to regional issues. Looking forward to the upcoming Legislative session in 2013, I am confident our leaders in Austin will continue to rely on Councils of Government in all regions of the state for their leadership role in fostering collaborative efforts between county and municipal governments. I am very happy to lead this effort on behalf of our Board of Directors and all stakeholders residing or doing business in the AACOG region.”
Commissioner Wolff said, “I am proud to have been selected to serve as Vice Chair and I look forward to 2013. AACOG has proven to be an integral component to addressing the challenges facing our region; whether it is on issues related to Eagle Ford Shale, Air Quality and remaining in attainment, issues impacting our elderly and vulnerable populations, or Workforce development. I look forward to assisting in guiding the Alamo region to be better positioned for whatever presents itself in the future.”
AACOG is a voluntary association of cities, counties, and special governmental districts serving the Alamo Area/State Planning Region 18, which covers 12 counties and 11,354 square miles. AACOG’s mission is to enhance the lives of all residents of the Alamo Region by working in mutual respect and partnership with all levels of government, the business sector, and the community at large to meet regional challenges and to create regional strengths.
