Memorial Hospital
Memorial Hospital
The cutline for this undated photo of the now Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville reads: "The 75-bed Memorial Hospital became a reality after an $850,000 bond issue for its construction was approved by county voters in 1961. The commissioners court appointed three businessmen — banker Dewey Pieratt, geologist Ralph Jackson and lawyer Maynard Porter — to work out the details of building the county hospital, which remains a lasting memorial to them, now all deceased. The Seventh-day Adventists have been administrators of the hospital since it opened, and many LVNs (licensed vocational nurses) have received their training under Bee County College supervision at this fine institution."
