The Trojans started strong and put up 17 first quarter points while holding the Wildcats to 10. It was a 33-24 tilt at the half with the Beeville boys holding the lead.
Then a disastrous third period cost the Trojans. The boys went cold and the momentum swung back to the Wildcats. The visitors added just two points to their totals while the G-P boys went wild and produced 19 third quarter points to take a 43-35 lead.
“We struggled in the third quarter and got down by eight entering the fourth period, where at that time, we could have folded as a team. But we came out and played hard and pulled it out at the end,” said Trojan head coach Mike Luce.
“It was a great win for the Trojans, showed a lot of character. I was real proud of our effort.”
The Beeville boys rallied and strung together a couple of good runs to chase down the Wildcats. The Trojans poured in 22 fourth quarter points while holding the G-P offense to 10. The result, a good come-from-behind win.
Two Trojans topped the 20-point mark on the night. Post Cameron Kremers led the way with 24 and Brent Reyna added 21. Tyler Stewart sank six points, while Lucas Glew followed with three markers. Hunter Hardy contributed two points and Cody Vasquez made one free throw.
The Trojans played at home on Friday night when the Victoria West Warriors came to Beeville.
