The Lady Trojans succumbed to the pressure defense of the G-P girls and had trouble buying a basket most of the night. The Ladycats led 11-4 after one period, and it was 23-12 at the half.
A second-half rally failed to materialize for the Beeville girls as the home team stretched its lead to 15 points by the end of the third quarter, taking a 36-21 advantage.
The Lady Trojans finally got into double figures for a quarter with 13 fourth-period points, but they could not put much of a dent in the G-P lead. The final was a 13-point win for the Ladycats.
The loss drops the Lady Trojans to 5-2 in District 30-4A play and 23-6 on the season.
Ciara Garcia worked inside most of the night for a team-high 12 points for the Lady Trojans. Victoria Elizalde was held to seven points on the night, far off her usual 18 or 20 points. Lynn Puente and Theresa Amador each sank five points in the loss. Brennan Holder added three, and Paige McKinney tossed in two.
The Lady Trojans returned to Beeville for their Friday night encounter with the Victoria West Warriors.
