BEEVILLE — On Tuesday, the Trojan wrestling team faced off against Victoria East and West in Beeville.

It was a small meet as neither visiting school brought a full contingent of wrestlers to meet the Trojans. East brought two wrestlers to face off against Beeville.

At 132 pounds, Tristan Longoria pinned his opponent in the second period. In the 182-pound division, Ernesto Gomez also pinned a Titan foe, doing so in the first period. Easy to say, Beeville beat Victoria East 66-0 with the rest of the wins coming by default.

The West Warriors brought five wrestlers with them. At 128 pounds, Lady Trojan Amanda Puga lost on a first period pin. The boys starting off had to gave up a forfeit in the 106-pound weight class.

At only 195 pounds, Trojan Brent Puga moved up to the 220-pound class to go against a Warrior. Puga finished off the heavier West wrestler with a quick first period pin. Trojan Elijah Green, at 220 pounds, was moved up to 285 pounds where he put up a good fight, but got pinned in the first period.

Beeville’s Rogelio Salazar, at 120 pounds, and Mario Perez, at 126 pounds, both won their matches by points, earning four team points each. The final was a 56-12 victory for the Trojans

The Beeville team will be going to the District 15-4A tournament on Feb. 2 in Victoria.
