As noted in last week’s Chamber Chatter, this year the chamber will provide more support to members with enhanced activities for the community, training opportunities, and a greater welcome to visitors and newcomers.

Currently the focus is on the upcoming annual banquet Saturday, March 2 at the Panna Maria Diner. The goal is to provide an evening of food and drink, music and entertainment, and fun with old friends and quite a few new friends.

Chamber membership is now over 200 members strong. Many have weathered the economic ups and downs the county has experienced. The chamber is growing and graciously welcomes new members. But is always mindful of members that have been here all along. The chamber thanks long time members for strong and continued support.

Honors will be given to the 2012 Business of the Year, Organization of the Year, and our Citizen of the Year. Recommendations are welcomed from the community. Please do it today. Contact Cathy at the chamber office, mail nominations to P.O. Box 55 or e-mail at karnescitychamber@att.net.

This year the board is working with the University of Houston Business Development Center in Victoria to improve the website and provide other services to our members. Through this source, a gap analysis of business opportunities for a start-up business in Karnes City and Karnes County will be offered. Interest in starting a business will be held in strict confidence. This analysis is available to all members.

Thanks again to members for efforts to make the Karnes County community the best that it can be. Mark the date : March 2 for the annual banquet celebration. A special invitation from officers and Board of Directors of the Karnes City Chamber of Commerce.
