Kenedy Leopards opened up their 2013 softball season against Poth Pirettes this past Tuesday. The

Leopards defeated the Pirettes 12-8 to kick off the season. Leopards scored first in the second inning,

Pirettes came back and tied it in the bottom of the second. Pirettes took the lead in the third inning.

Leopard came out strong in the fourth by scoring 6 runs in the fourth, and never looked back from there. By scoring runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh. Pirettes made a push in sixth, and got within 2 runs but the Leopards were able to hold them off. Jacki Zapata lead all hitter by going 3-4 and had a triple, double, and 3 RBI’s. Laurel Vickery 2-3 with 1 RBI. Saren Sutton with 2-3 and 1 RBI. Saren also had the start on the mound against the Pirettes. She pitch a complete game and had lots of help behind her. Lauren Hernandez, Becca Brown, Teryn Schmidt had a great defensive game on Tuesday. The

Leopards will host Nixon-Smiley on Friday at 6, then travel to Ganado on Saturday at 11 am.
