Goliad wins three of five softball games

WOODSBORO – The Goliad Tigerettes won three of five softball games at the Woodsboro Tournament on Feb. 21-23.

The Tigerettes beat Ben Bolt 18-0 on feb. 21 as Kara Thomas went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run and Briana Flores a homer and three RBI. Michele Campbell was the winning pitcher.

Goliad, which was ranked third in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 2A poll, fell 9-1 to Hubbard later on Feb. 21 but rebounded later in the day to roll past the Woodsboro JV 17-4 as Stormie Lutz went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Kelsey Kocian, Campbell and Amber Rose each had two hits. Kristian Chance was the winning pitcher.

On Feb. 23, Goliad blanked Austin Hyde Park 6-0 as Chance went the distance to get the win on the mound. Flores and Thomas both went 2-for-3.

Later in the day, the Tigerettes lost 3-2 to Corpus Christi John Paul II.
