Though most people will believe Jesus Christ was born in a stable and died on a cross, many have a problem believing He is God. Those who take the time to study the Scriptures, however, discover an amazing revelation of the deity of Christ through prophecies fulfilled and other historical facts. Below are just a few examples.

In Luke 1:35, the angel Gabriel told Mary, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”

Upon Jesus’ birth, Gabriel appeared to shepherds in a field and told them who Jesus was and where to find Him: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." (Luke 2:11, 12)

When Mary and Joseph took Jesus to be circumcised and named, the elderly priest Simeon took Him in his arms and said: "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel." (Luke 2:28-32)

When John baptized Jesus, “the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’" (Luke 3:22)

In the book of John, we read that when Jesus claimed to be God’s Son, “the Jews tried all the harder to kill Him; not only was He breaking the Sabbath, but He was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.” (John 5:18)

Paul wrote in Philippians 2:6-11, “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

If you really want to be blessed, read the 53rd chapter of Isaiah. This Old Testament prophecy, written some 700 years before Jesus’ birth, was fulfilled by His crucifixion and resurrection.
