Lady Cats hammer the Lady Hounds

The Taft Lady Hounds came to Lady Cat country in an attempt to prove they are the district leader. However, the Lady Cats had something to prove themselves. With an offensive explosion and solid defensive play, Refugio did not leave disappointed. The Lady Cats shut down the Lady Hounds,14-3.

Alyssa McMahan shut down the Lady Hounds with a stellar pitching performance. She struck out 13 batters while walking 7. Taft could only muster 3 hits and no runs.

Offensive highlights for the girls dressed in black were as follows: Shelby Quintanilla 1 for 3, Brittney Torfin 1 for 4, Kristen Wise 1 for 3, run, Brittah Williams 1 for 3, run, Alyssa McMahan 1 for 2, 2 runs, RBI, Alexa Montemayor 1 for 2, run, RBI, Cassandra Ramirez 1 for 3, Chelsea Lara (run), and Stormy Brock 2 for 3, RBI.

Katie Bernal and Brittney Gumm performed excellent base running and solidified an all around performance by the Lady Cats, said Coaches David Cruhm and Lisa Brown.

Refugio is now 17-5, 4-0 in district 30-2a play. They will be traveling to Skidmore Tynan on Friday, April 3, in the battle of the Lady Cats.
