The Kenedy Chamber of Commerce Tourism and Visitor Center is busy getting ready for the 2013 Bluebonnet Days Festival, which is planned for Friday and Saturday, April 26-27.

The annual Kenedy Bluebonnet Days Festival celebrates the arrival of spring and the beautiful bluebonnets and other wildflowers that decorate the local area.

Local residents and visitors are all welcomed to the annual event.

Bluebonnet Days Queen Lauren Hernandez and members of the Bluebonnet Days Royal Court, Teryn Schmidt and Priscilla Torres will be onhand to welcome visitors to Kenedy’s annual event.

The Bluebonnet Days Cookoff will get underway with setup at noon on Friday, April 26 at Joe Gulley Park. Later that evening, at 6 p.m., the Margarita Contest will get underway. DJ Matthew Garza will provide musical entertainment at the park Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.

On Saturday morning at 11 a.m., the traditional downtown parade that passes along Main Street in Kenedy will begin.

The parade typically lasts about an hour. Watch for the Miss Bluebonnet Days Queen and Court riding atop the Bluebonnet Days Float as well as numerous other floats, bands and other parade entries.

Following the parade, local folks and visitors will stream out to Joe Gulley Park for the all-day-long festival.

Arts crafts and food vendors will be set up from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Cookoff starts at 8 a.m. and runs through 3:30 p.m. with the awards presentation happening at 4:30 p.m.

Games and activities will be available for visitors to enjoy from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Dirty Texas Band will perform for visitors to the Kenedy Bluebonnet Days Festival at Joe Gulley Park Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
