The council approved the annexation of approximately 10 acres located on US 181, north of Supreme Vacuum, which will be the site for the new InstaLodge and restaurant.
Dan Nguyen and Pat Riordan of Landmark Consolidated, an Austin-based hotel development and construction corporation, were again before the council to explain details of the InstaLodge plans.
The InstaLodge will have 232 rooms, with a parking lot of 253 spaces. There will be 24-hour reception, along with many other planned amenities.
“We should have our engineering plans to submit shortly after the approval to proceed,” said Nguyen as he addressed the council. “We plan to start construction by June 3. We should open doors to the public of the hotel in approximately 5 and-a-half months, so that’s rather quick. The restaurant will be underway as well, so we’ll be able to submit those engineering plans very shortly after the hotel plans.”
The restaurant will be called the Bayou Grill and will specialize in Cajun and seafood dishes. The restaurant will be right in front of the InstaLodge.
“It’s 5,500 square feet,” explained Riordan about the restaurant. “It seats about 184 to 194 people. It is being designed by our architect firm.”
Also during the meeting, the council approved of the construction of a Super 8 hotel in the city, off of TX 123 next to Partner’s Barbecue.
The council heard a presentation by San Antonio-based hotel developer B.J. Patel regarding the plans and progress for the new Super 8.
“The Super 8 is going to be about 40 rooms,” said Patel. “It’s going to have a pretty large breakfast area and lobby. We maxed out the size as much as we could. We wanted to add more rooms but we weren’t able to because of the way the land was sitting.”
According to Patel, the Super 8 is planned on being opened at the end of August or in early September.
“Everything is on pace,” he said. “We don’t expect any delays as of now.”
