“This was a great way to start the second half of district play. Kristen Almeida did a fantastic job on the mound after recovering from an injury,” said JV coach Ophelia De Los Santos.
“We were able to put the ball in play and take care of the routine plays which have plagued us all season.”
Almeida pitched the short shutout for the Beeville girls. Everyone wielded a big bat for the Lady Trojans. The Beeville girls also took advantage of at least six walks by the Lady Texan pitching staff.
The Lady Trojans scored five runs in each of the first three innings to put away Ray. Sierra Ruiz, Samantha Valencia, Patsy Longoria and Alex Gamez all were a perfect 1-1 at the plate. Valencia had three RBI’s on the day while Ruiz and Almeida both crossed the plate three times in the game for the Lady Trojans. Skylar Nelson banged out one hit in two trips to the plate and scored three runs for the Beeville girls.
That lone hit was a inside-the-park home run for Nelson.
The Lady Trojans played at home on Tuesday night, facing the visiting Ladycats from Gregory-Portland.
Next Tuesday night, the Beeville JV girls will be back in Corpus Christi to meet the Miller Lady Bucs at Cabaniss Field.
