Valdez was born in Goliad on July 18, 1932, to Geronima and Reymundo Valdez.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores Valdez and one daughter, Mary Jane Adams.
Survivors include eight daughters and their spouses, Paula and Felix Flores, Rosie and Andy Pena, Geneva and Ernest Yanez, all of Woodsboro; Victoria Perez of Goliad; Julie and Jesse Tijerina, Becky Valdez; Eva Valdez; Cathy and Victor Loya, all of Victoria; eight sons and their spouses, Samuel and Sylvia Valdez, Steve Valdez all of Woodsboro, Patrick and Sylvia Valdez of Refugio, Felix and Kathy Valdez of Victoria, Henry and Minnie Valdez of Beeville, Pasquel and Eufamia Valdez of Hale City, Antonio Valdez of Waco and Armandina Valdez of Woodsboro, Ruben and Stacey Valdez of Houston; four sisters, Aurora Perez, Sophia Hernandez, and Nifa Mendoza, all of Victoria, and Victoria Garza of Yorktown; five brothers, Estaiquio, Ismael, Benito, Julian and Frank Valdez, all of Victoria; 58 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.
Prayer service was held at 7 p.m., Monday, April 6, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in LaRosa Cemetery in Woodsboro.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Pasquel Valdez Jr., Peter Martinez, Tony Valdez Jr., Jose Baker, Domingo Galindo and Ernest Yanez Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Jessie Flores, Raymond Pena, Alexander Valdez, Noah Valdez, Felix Valdez Jr. and Victor Loya Jr.
