Cisneros files to run for Woodsboro trustee

Raymond “Mone” Cisneros announced his candidacy for WISD School Board, Place 4. He issued the following statement this week:
“My wife Josie and I have been married for 40 years. We have four daughters and seven grandchildren.
“I have been a life-long resident of Woodsboro. I am also a graduate of Woodsboro High School and I also have an A.A.S. Degree from San Antonio College. I am a federal government retiree and a Vietnam combat veteran.
“I am running for school board for four reasons:
“1. New leadership, new direction: We passed a $10 million school bond a few years ago, campus looks the same, little improvement. New dome gym: who needs one? Certainly not Woodsboro. Just a waste of money. Refugio passed a bond for $7 million and built 2 new schools, new tennis court, and an indoor practice facility.
“2. School board infrastructure: Members have been there too long, many promises and nothing accomplished. Failure to recognize rewards when due and failure of board supervision.
“3. Our present school board is being run by one board member and one administrator. We had some problems at our high school that these two individuals were judge, jury and executioner on solving the matter, and the other board members knew nothing about this. Citizens of Woodsboro, this nonsense has to stop now, otherwise what’s the use of having a school board?
4. I’m a firm believer on academics first, and extra-curricular activities second. At WISD, we have always implemented academics as the tool for the future. This is why Woodsboro always received compliments about our students on their achievements.
Our extra curricular activities are also important to our students. We have a lot of athletes on campus, but lack the tools to implement a good program. Just because you play sports in college, doesn’t automatically make you a coach. We need to improve our coaching selection. Teachers are not coaches.
I have the utmost respect for our teachers at WISD and I also know that they don’t get the recognition they deserve. They seem to be overlooked on the achievements where they should actually be rewarded. Our teachers at Woodsboro are the best and our students are also the best kids around.
I hope I get a chance to implement all I have stated, because we need a change in the school board, as well as in the system on campus. Together we can make a difference to better our school. So on May 9, I ask for your vote and support. Thank you and Good Bless.

If you had actually attended a board meeting, you would know how the money was spent.
1. Refugio built two schools and an out door sports facility. They built from the ground up. Woodsboro had to tear down and rebuild. Tearing down old buildings and having to do an asbestos abatement is a huge job. I don't know how you think this was done but I will assure you, it wasn't the boy scouts.....
"still looks the same" open your eyes bud, go visit the school and look at all the improvements. Ray Charles can see that there has been a huge improvement!
"who needs a dome" The good people of Woodsboro need a dome that will be an activity center and a storm shelter for the entire community. If we get a category 3 or 4 or heaven forbid category 5 hurricane, you can go and seek shelter at Refugios in door practice facility. We will be reading about you in this paper when it's all said and done...
2. Board members can not make any promises with the exception of one. To make every effort to attend every board meetiing to help make decisions that are best for the district. Who promised you anything? The only person who answers to the board is the superintendent. What supervision are you refering to.
3. "Our present school board is being run by one board member and one administrator" I personally would not say anything about anyone or anything unless I knew all the details. If you have a problem with your school board, go to a meeting and ask questions. If you attended a meeting every now and then you would know that you can do that. You are attempting to get political gain by making strong remarks and you have no information to back it up. Don't be a coward, go and see for yourself whats going on. The nonsense is what you are writing!
4. "This is why Woodsboro always received compliments about our students on their achievements." Now you are contradicting everything you just wrote about! Which is it are the current board members doing good or not?
"Teachers are not coaches" YES THEY ARE!! What planet did you come from?
"We need to improve our coaching selection" If I'm not mistaken, you have a daughter that is a coach in Woodsboro. Are you suggesting to the administration to fire her? That's what it sounds like to me. How does your own family feel about your ideas? WHAT A DAD!!!
Sir, you have absolutely no business running for school board.
