She was born Feb. 5, 1935, to Paulino Sr. and Guadalupe (Deanda) Bernal in Alfred. She was a member of Miracle Worship Center-Centro De Milagros Church in Kingsville.
Ms. Urquizo was preceded in death by her eldest son, Gustavo Garza Jr.; her father, Paulino Bernal Sr.; and a brother, Eulogio “Eloy” Bernal.
Survivors include her mother, Guadalupe (Deanda) Bernal of Beeville, three sons, Emilio (Delia) Garza of Kingsville, Ernest (Janie) Gonzalez Jr. of Edinburg and Peter Gonzalez (Isaac) of Austin; two daughters, Estella (Ernest) Mechell of Kingsville and Diane (Dennis) Rogers-Garrett of Idaho; seven brothers, Rev. Paulino (Mary) Bernal of McAllen, Rev. Luis (Laura) Bernal of Kingsville, Richard (Yolanda) Bernal of Fort Worth, Oscar Bernal of McAllen, Hector (Diana) Bernal of Houston, Alfonso Bernal of Fort Worth and Freddy (Annette) Bernal of Houston; five sisters, Julie (Jesse) De Russe Jr. of Beeville, Guadalupe (Roger) Benson of Kingsville, Manuela (Cruz) Rodriguez of Fort Worth, Lydia (Jesse) Ortiz of Fort Worth and Ramona (Oscar) Espinoza of Atlanta, Ga.; numerous grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday at Miracle Worship Center-Centro De Milagros Church in Kingsville, with the Rev. Luis Bernal officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Guardian Funeral Home, Corpus Christi.
