The Texas Sports Writers Association recently announced the All-State Softball Teams, selected to the All-State First Team were second baseman Kendall Wendland and Utility player Taylor Perez.
Making the All State Second Team were pitcher Jamie Wilson and outfielder Ashley Barraza. Kasye McCool was selected to the Honorable Mention All-State team. Kendall Wendland had a batting average of .432, 20 RBIs, 17 runs scored, 6 stolen bases, and a .958 fielding average. Taylor Perez led the Lady Eagles with a batting average of .500, 36 runs scored, 15 walks, 8 sacrifices, 15 stolen bases and 18 RBIs. Jamie had a .397 batting average, 26 runs, 19 RBIs, 3 homeruns.
Wilson had a 19 wins 8 losses, 1.90 ERA, 263 strikeouts in 165 innings pitched. Woodsboro lead off hitter and outfielder Ashley Barraza had a batting average of .387, scored 34 runs, 17 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. Shortstop “Cool” Kasye McCool posted a .476 batting average, with 23 runs scored, 24 RBIs, 2 homeruns, and 10 stolen bases.
Lady Eagle pitcher Jamie Wilson, the only Lady Eagle selected, as well as the only Class 1A player representative on the Corpus Christi All-South Texas Softball Teams. Representing the Lady Eagles on the Victoria All Area Honorable Mention softball team were pitcher Jamie Wilson, catcher Taylor Perez, infielders Kendall Wendland, Kasye McCool, and Kati Perez, outfielders Hannah Niemann, Ashley Barraza and Madalynn Nixon.
