Mario Hernandez has announced his candidacy for Woodsboro ISD Board of Trustees, place 3. This week he released the following statement:

“I would like to announce to the citizens of Bayside, Bonnie View, and Woodsboro that I, Mario Hernandez, am running for school board trustee, place three. I am seeking this position because I feel I can bring a positive change to the school district.

“I have been a lifelong resident of Woodsboro, having graduated from WISD in 1980. I am currently employed by Stripes, working in the Refugio Store. I served on the Woodsboro City Council for four years.

“My wife Roxanna and I have been married for 16 years and have two daughters; Melinda, 16, a sophomore at Woodsboro High School; and Kasandra, 14, an eighth grader at Woodsboro Junior High School.

“My experience, having been an area manager and, currently, a store manager, along with having served on the city council has helped me to understand the importance of a balanced budget and financial responsibilities.

“If elected, I will work with all board members, administration, and faculty to provide a quality education and positive learning environment for all the students in Woodsboro Independent School District.

“I urge the citizens of Bayside, Bonnie View, and Woodsboro to come out and vote for positive change.

“I, Mario Hernandez, respectfully ask for your support and vote on May 9. Thank you.”
