Beeville school trustees meet at noon today to discuss the hiring of a new head football coach and athletic director.
Discussion of employment is expected to occur in closed session. However, trustees will announce their decision, if there is one, during the open portion of the meeting.
The school board meeting is open to the public and is held in the board room of the headquarters building, located at 2400 N. St. Mary’s St.
Names of the six finalists for the position as the Trojans’ athletic director and head football coach, previously held by Chris Soza, were released by Superintendent John Hardwick on Friday morning.
Dr. Hardwick, members of the A.C. Jones High School administration and three members of the Beeville community, selected these six finalists.
Those still in the running to head the Trojans include: Brent Kornegay from Orange Grove, George Peña from Hidalgo, Tony Treviño from Uvalde, Troy Moses from Lockhart, Mickey Finley from Victoria Memorial and Eddie Baca from Justin’s Northwest High School. The first five are presently head coaches at their schools and Baca is an assistant coach at Justin’s Northwest High School, a suburb of Denton.
The three community members who have helped narrow the list to these six finalists are Jean Ann Beasley, Louis Alaniz and Assistant Police Chief Kenneth Jefferson.
