CCA fish fry

Members of the Redfish Bay Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association invites you to their 2008 fish fry that will be held on Thursday from 6-10 p.m. at the High Five Ranch off County Road 308.

Advance tickets are $30 and can be purchased at Classique Cleaners, Elder’s Country Store, Morris Radiator and Fuller Tractor. Tickets at the gate will be $40.

Dinner will include fried fish, beans and all the trimmings with cold beer and iced tea available for the thirsty.

Proceeds help the conservation of the area’s bays and estuaries to help provide great fishing for years to come.

The Beeville chapter invites you to come and enjoy some good food and to hear all the fish stories you can handle.

Deiz Y Seis golf tourney rescheduled

The golf tournament scheduled for last Saturday is now set for this Saturday at the John C. Beasley Municipal Golf Course.

You can still register to play by calling the golf shop at 362-7618. The shotgun start will begin at 9 a.m.

Senior citizen passes

Senior citizens who are 62 years of age or older and reside in the Pettus ISD are eligible for a “Lifetime Senior Citizen Athletic Pass” for home sporting events. Persons who already have a “Lifetime Pass” need not get a new one, unless theirs has been lost or misplaced. Call Nettie Hensley at the Pettus Secondary School at 375-2296, ext. 112, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drivers license or Texas ID must be presented to receive a pass.

B&G Club golf tournament

The 24th annual Beeville Boys & Girls Club golf tournament sponsored by L&F Distributors will be held on Sept. 27 at the John C. Beasley Municipal Golf Course in Beeville.

The four-man teams need to include and A,B, C and D players. Make up your own teams or be placed on one. Cost is $50 per person which includes green fees, cart and dinner. The tournament is set to start with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. with cash prizes awarded for the top three finishing teams of $500, $300 and $200, respectively, based on 60 players.

A hole in one will get you a vehicle from Dave Moore Ford and there will be closest to the pins contests within the tournament. Mulligans can be purchased for $5 with a two per person limit. Ties will be settled with a scorecard playoff.

Volleyball tournament

The Garza East Unit will hold a volleyball tournament on Oct. 4 to benefit the Beeville Boys and Girls Club.

Entry fee is $10 per player with eight players per team.

Bee Men’s Flag Football League

The league will begin play in October and is looking for team entries. A meeting is set to take place Thursday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at Texas Southern Insurance (410 N. St. Mary’s) in Beeville.

Ladies softball league forming

A women’s softball league is now forming. Entry fee per team is $135, Core .44 softballs are to be used exclusively. No Miken Ultra bats and no Combat bats will be allowed. First- and second-place teams will receive T-shirts. Teams first through fourth will receive team plaques.

ASA umpires will call games and the umpire has the final say. For more information, contact David at 542-6199.
