The Karnes City Craft Club met Thursday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City. There were 14 members present. President Shirley Frazier called the meeting to order and led the group in the Lord’s Prayer and the pledge to the American flag. Secretary Orlis Jonas called the roll and read the minutes of the prior meeting. Treasurer Myra Patton gave the financial report.

Three new members: Melody Johnson, Shirley Palitza, and Vivian Urbanozyk were greeted and welcomed. The group sang “Happy Birthday” to Shirley Frazier for her special day. Shirley asked everyone to update their information for the new year book in 2014. Beverly Davis will be constructing it again.

The club received a thank you card from Maona Mixon’s family for the gift donated to the Charla Bedford Wick scholarship fund, since Maona passing. She will certainly be missed.

Patty Bedford and Pat Hemby were appointed by the president to serve on the nominating committee for officers for 2014. The slate will be presented at the November meeting. A new year starts in January and the dues will be paid at that time.

The business meeting was adjourned and the hostesses for the month were Patty Bedford, Beverly Henke, and Vi Wehman. Pat Hemby won the door prize and Laura Gamez was awarded the hostesses gift. They received a seasonal cup towel with pumpkin decorations and a pretty metal pumpkin to use for decoration.

The craft was presented by Diane Maitland who showed everyone how to make a ghost decoration. A blow pop was used for the head and covered with white material. A face was drawn on the white head with a black marker. A string was tied around the neck and the white material flowed in the air like a little ghost.

Everyone enjoyed the refreshments and fellowship following the craft. The next meeting will be Nov. 14 and the hostess will be Joan Kroll with help from other members.
