BEEVILLE — Emergency dispatchers confirmed this week that Bee County was one of 16 counties in the Coastal Bend Region that were without 911 phone service for more than an hour on Wednesday morning.

According to area reports, the problem began at about 8:30 a.m. when some guy wires on an electrical transmission pole in Corpus Christi broke and the pole fell. A resulting dip in voltage caused an outage that affected areas from Victoria to Raymondville.

A dispatcher at the Beeville Police Department said 911 service was restored in Beeville just before 10 a.m.
