February is American Heart Month. Many are aware that heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women, but there is good news: heart disease is preventable and controllable. KCISD is excited to announce that it has become partners with Meagen Dennison, the County Extension Agent to encourage students, staff and the community to get active and "walk across texas".

It is all about spending time together and get moving. Information about this exciting initiative is available at each Campus. Registration forms are due by Thursday, Feb. 13. The competition will begin on Feb. 17, by logging in physical activity minutes.

For any questions, feel free to contact: Nurse Bluhm R.N.-780-2321 ext.- 465; Meagen Dennison- County Extension Agent-FCS/4-H (Karnes)- (830) 780-3906.
