Some of my accomplishments while in office were making presentations at COG for grants that were applied for and received. Other projects during my tenure in office not grant related were the walk around the City Park, and the August Caron Pavilion that so many of us have found to be an asset. Signs were put up in certain areas of our schools in order to make it safe for our children. I supported the beautification of our city by staying abreast of yards that needed to be cut especially in abandoned areas within our community. Reviewed and questioned the budget, to include the expenditures of the city, and did not hesitate to question the management. Thoroughly reviewed and discussed agenda items; if not sure we tabled items for further research.
Friends, Family and Citizens of George West, it is an honor and a privilege to announce my candidacy for Mayor for the City of George West. I am fully aware that it will not be an easy task but I strongly believe that with my experience, the proper resources, hiring a City Manager with the proper credentials, this city will again be headed towards the right direction. I am confident and know I can get the job done and do it well. As Mayor for the City of George West, I will not be afraid of the challenges that come with being the head of our city. I will be dedicated and will carry the responsibilities as Mayor with pride, integrity and with the highest of honor. As your Mayor, the City Council, and I will be one, and not individuals working separately on different agendas. It is time for our City to be united; as we the leaders of this community will set forth the example of Unity. I know how valuable our city is, not just for myself but also, to all who reside here. So I am asking for your support - vote for Elsie DeLeon Garcia for Mayor for the City of George West, on Saturday, May 9, at the Cafeteria. Absentee voting will be April 27th – May 5th, 2009 at City Hall.
