Daniella Acosta, a 6th grade student at Skidmore-Tynan Junior High School, was named the 1st place winner of the 2013-2014 Patriot’s Pen Writing Contest sponsored by VFW Post 9170. Her essay on the theme “What Patriotism Means to Me” won her $300 and then an additional $100 when she placed 3rd in VFW District 6.  Daniella is the daughter of Martin and Dolly Acosta of Beeville.
