This special event is happening Saturday, March 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum located in downtown Runge.
The museum is undergoing a complete renovation after having been closed to the public for five years.
Organizers of the event say the needs of the project are great. Since January, 2013, a board was elected and monthly meetings are ongoing. A membership drive is now in progress.
The projects completed to this point include cleaning and organizing items, opening to the public one day per week (Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.), purchase and installation of vertical blinds, installation of mirrors and display cases and a planned annual chicken barbecue held each May.
The next project will focus on rewiring the building and provisions for heating and air conditioning.
The cost for heating and air conditioning is estimated at $15,000. Other planned projects include flooring, painting, purchase of scanners and printers and the remodeling of an additional room.
