FALLS CITY – The Falls City ISD held a student and faculty assembly in the high school gymnasium on Friday for the purpose of ceremoniously accepting a $35,168.45 donation from the Falls City Education Foundation. The donation award from the Foundation is meant to help teachers across the district purchase various materials and technology that will enhance the overall learning experience of all students throughout the district.

Falls City Education Foundation President Stephen Dziuk presented the check to Falls City ISD at the ceremony in front of assembled students and faculty. The most recent donations have come in the form of Innovative Teaching Grants.

“Teachers across the district completed grant applications that consisted of a description of how the funds will be used to impact student learning,” said Superintendent Tylor Chaplin of the process of obtaining the recent grants/donations from the Foundation. “The grants ranged from science equipment to band instruments, interactive projectors to online agriculture curriculum. Every student at Falls City ISD will be impacted by the most recent grant donations totaling $35,168.45.”

The Falls City Education Foundation is a Non-Profit 501c(3) organization that was started in 2012. The purpose of the organization is to increase and foster engagement and communication between the community and Falls City ISD. The Foundation works to provide opportunities for parents, community members, businesses, and alumni to help enhance the educational opportunities for the students.

District officials point out that during the 2012-2013 school year the Foundation donated $25,000 to the district for the purchase of ipads and tablets for students and teacher use.

Also, during the summer of 2013, the Foundation donated $100,000 to the district. This donation was used to replace every computer the district had with more recent and newer computers. It also allowed district faculty to redistribute the existing computers into classrooms, creating more opportunities for student use.

“This recent donation by the Foundation brings the total amount donated to the district in the last two years to $160,168.45,” said Chaplin. “This has had an enormous impact on the level of education offered at Falls City.”
