The Kenedy Chamber of Commerce is seeking candidates for this year's Miss Bluebonnet Day's Pageant to be held at the Kenedy Elementary School Cafeteria on Saturday, April 26. Do you think you have what it takes to represent your community? Are you interested in a chance to receive a scholarship? If so, this is a great opportunity for you. The Kenedy Chamber of Commerce will be awarding three scholarships to the 2014 Bluebonnet Days Queen and her Court. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the 2013 Bluebonnet Days Queen, a $750.00 scholarship will be awarded to the 1st Runner up and a $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to the 2nd Runner up. In addition, there is also a "Jr. Miss" category for the middle school girls. Applications have been distributed to all campuses this week with a deadline of Friday, March 28. Applications may also be picked up at the Kenedy Chamber of Commerce office located at 205 South Second Street, Kenedy. Office Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., phone: 830-583-3223. Competition is open to the following:
• Little Mr. & Miss Bluebonnet 2014 - Child must be enrolled at Kenedy I.S.D. (Kindergarten or 1st grade).
• Jr. Miss Bluebonnet Pageant 2014 - All contestants must be girls in grade levels 6th through 8th, single with no dependents and presently enrolled in Kenedy Middle School.
• Miss Bluebonnet Day 2014 - All contestants must be girls enrolled at Kenedy High School with zero dependents. All contestants must have a satisfactory passing grade point average in order to participate.
Contestants will be judged on western wear, dress-up attire, impromptu question, most photogenic and an informal judges interview. More information on this event to follow.
