RUNGE – An ongoing feud led to a stabbing Friday afternoon in Runge and two men were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and a warrant has been issued for the third man – also wanted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to information from Karnes County Sheriff Dwayne Villanueva, deputies responded to several calls of a stabbing and disturbance at the 1200 block of N. Goliad Street in Runge at 5:45 p.m. Friday.

When they arrived, they found Israel Torres, 31, of Runge who was the victim of a stabbing.

Juan Reyes, 55, and his son John A. Reyes, 27, were arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing Torres.

Torres was transported to Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital for treatment and then to another hospital where he was treated and released the following day.

Upon further investigation, deputies learned that Torres may have provoked the attack by using his vehicle to ram the rear end of a vehicle occupied by Reyes and his son.

As a result, Torres is wanted by police who plan to charge him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – the weapon in this instance being the vehicle he was allegedly using to harm Reyes and his son.

According to Villanueva, the investigation determined that the incident was part of what appears to be an ongoing feud between the men who were involved.
