Attention graduating seniors: President Villanueva has appointed four members to the Scholarship Committee. They are JoAnn Slane, Beula Mae Pearce, Joyce Janssen and Margie Pierce. These members will be coordinating with the four area high schools (Kenedy, Karnes City, Runge and Falls City) in awarding $400 scholarships to graduating seniors who may be interested in pursuing further education and a career in any health care related field. Please contact your school counselor for specifics in applying for this scholarship. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible (no later than April 29). Awards will be given in early May.
There’s still time to purchase tickets for the Americana Splash lap quilt being raffled. Look for auxiliary members at various businesses around town with the quilt on display plenty of tickets. When not “on the road” it will be displayed in the Gift Shop. The quilt features embroidered bursts of fireworks in colors of red, white and blue. Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. The drawing for this quilt will be held during the Bluebonnet Days Celebration in May. Let your patriotism show (as well as your support for OKMH) with your ticket purchases.
Would you like to make a worthwhile contribution to your community? As the OKMH expands its’ physical plant and services, the auxiliary anticipates an expansion of their services as well. No special talent is needed, just the desire to make a difference for the betterment of your community. Ladies and gentlemen are invited to attend one of the meetings and see if the OKMH Auxiliary would be of interest to you. Hope to see you there.
The next business meeting will be Thursday, May 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the Hospital Board Room.
