Of the fifty-three schools that comprise Region IV-AA, the Three Rivers UIL team earned second place overall with 105 points at the meet. This is the highest that Three Rivers High School has ever placed at the regional meet. One-act play, speech, and academic contests all contribute points at the regional meet.
The one-act play performed at the regional meet on Thursday, April 23 and was named the Region IV State Alternate Play. Chris Martinez and Seth Stewart both received all-star cast honors and Rachel Dockery earned honorable mention all-star cast honors. The play is directed by Mr. Jimmy Conn. Academic and speech contests were held on Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25. Students placing at the meet and advancing to the UIL State Meet are Shelly Smith, 3rd poetry interpretation; Bo East, 1st computer applications; Saul Cruces, 1st calculator applications; and Rachel Dockery, 1st prose interpretation.
Placing at the meet and qualifying as state alternates are Krissy Arnst, 4th mathematics; Taylor Noble, 4th LD debate; and the 2nd place math team of Krissy Arnst, Jonathan Sulaica, Jacob Moran, and Saul Cruces.
Also placing at the meet was Hayden Kopplin who placed 6th in extemporaneous informative speaking.
