CONVERSE – Goliad's John Von Dohlen finished third in Friday morning's 3,200-meter run at the Region IV-2A track and field meet at Rutledge Stadium.

Von Dohlen crossed the finish in 9 minutes, 55.08 seconds. East Bernard's Wyatt Kieler won the event in 9:41.57 and Luling's Ryan Flores was third in 9:43.05.

Also Friday, Goliad's Carl Roy finished 10th in the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, 9 inches.

In the girls division, Goliad's Cortnee Priour was third in the long jump with a leap of 17-5 and teammate Ashtin Zamzow followed in fourth with a mark of 17-3 1/2. Schulenburg's Sarah Walker won the event with a jump of 17-11 and Industrial's Lauren Brogger was second with a 17-5 1/2.

Goliad's Andrea Delagarza was seventh in the 3,200 with a time of 13:07.74 and the Tigerettes' Jalissa Clemons was ninth in the discus with a mark of 95-11.

The top two finishers in each event and top third-place finishers statewide will advance to the state meet in Austin on May 9 and 10.

The running preliminaries began at 3 p.m. Friday. The other field events will be held Saturday. Check mySouTex.com for results.
