On Thursday April 17, the A.C. Jones High School Symphonic Band competed in Portland at the Region 14 UIL Concert Sight-reading contest. The band came home with three 1st division scores from all three stage judges and earned a 1st division plaque from UIL. Director Jaime Vela said, “The bands do not place against other bands; instead, they are rated from a 5th Division (Poor) to 1st Division (Superior) on their performance of prescribed music. These kids really worked hard for this. I’m extremely proud of their efforts. It is well deserved.” The high school bands will have their spring concert on Monday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in the A.C. Jones auditorium. The Moreno and Thomas Jefferson Spring Concert will be held the next evening, Tuesday, April 29, at 6 p.m.
