When the Woodsboro High School Track team reported for the first day of practice, the dates May 9th and 10th were marked on the calender.

These dates were the state track meet in Austin.

Making the state meet was the goal of every participant, whether a runner, jumper or thrower.

Woodsboro is known throughout the state as a track school. Some regional and state records have been reset, and some remain.

This year’s track team has added itself to the list of honored teams.

It has provided much excitement to the fans, many outstanding efforts and even another regional record.

Participants in this years regional meet:

Derrik Pena – 3200-meter (Regional 6th Place) and 1600 Meters

Dan Han – Pole Vault, 110-meter Hurdles, 300-meter Hurdles

Garret Horner – 300-meter Hurdles

Trent Moses – 110-meter Hurdles, 300-meter Hurdles

Erik Foster – Pole Vault

Jaime Grasham – Shot Put, Discus

Justin Fierova – Shot Put

Lionel Brown – Triple Jump, 4x100-meter Relay, 4x200-meter Relay

Andy Villarreal – 200-meter, 4x100-meter Relay, 4x200-meter Relay

Jose Hernandez – 4x100-meter Relay, 4x200 Relay

Jacob Nesloney – 4x100-meter Relay, 4x200-meter (Alternate)

David Carmichael – 4x200-meter Relay, 4x100-meter (Alternate)

Jordan Rivera – 4x200-meter Relay (Alternate), 4x100-meter Relay (Alternate)

State Qualifiers:

4x100m – Jose Hernandez, Lionel Brown, Jacob Nesloney, Andy Villarreal

4x200m – Jose Hernandez, Lionel Brown, David Carmichael, Andy Villarreal

200 Meter – Andy Villarreal

Triple Jump – Lionel Brown, Region Four Record Holder
