Runge Museum hosting chicken barbecue fundraiser Saturday

It’s time for the Runge Museum annual Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser!

On Saturday, barbecue pits will be fired up by about 4:30 a.m. by Larry Dement and Floyd Brasher and possibly others. Lunch will be served between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Museum this coming Saturday, May 10. The carry-out meals will include chicken, potato salad, pinto beans, cole slaw, pickles, onions,bread and cookies. Drinks will be available separately. Tickets are $8 each and are being sold now or tickets will be available at the door on Saturday.

Organizers expressed thanks to Homer Lott for his help in securing the use of the pits. Members have been hard at work making sure the lunch will be something you’ll really enjoy. For more information call one of the numbers below. The profit from this fundraiser will go toward the next step in restoration of the museum.

Runge Museum Association was honored to host the Karnes County Chambers of Commerce second Friday breakfast at the museum in April. Some 32 persons from all parts of Karnes County including representatives of businesses from county communities, members of San Antonio River Authority , Marathon representatives, candidates for upcoming election, Historical Society representatives, Otto Kaiser board member, Karnes County Drug Free Youth Coalition sponsor, financial advisor and other visitors were able to attend.

Please come by to see new additions such as posters advertising performances of Runge’s own Majestic Orchestra that performed in the 1930’s and 40’s.
